Dome Greenhouse Coverings
Dome greenhouse coverings are important to the over-all performance of your new dome greenhouse. The covering helps control humidity, light and wind protection. Here are the specifications for the standard and optional dome greenhouse coverings.
Standard Dome Covering
The standard dome greenhouse coverings are made from 6 Mil Clear Nylon String Reinforced Polyethylene Sheeting. String poly is manufactured from a triple laminate of low density poly, with a special strengthening additive, and is then reinforced with cross tied polyester tire cord. Woven, Reinforced and superior heavy-duty film resists tears in any direction. The polyethylene has a 90% light transmission and 20% light diffusion. Arctic tested to -60.
Sun Selector Dome Covering
The first option for your dome greenhouse coverings is called Sun Selector. It too is 6 mil and is a diffused greenhouse film featuring a 60% light diffusion which reduces shadowing. Also an IR additive, Anti-Drip AD to reduce mold, UVA and dust protection. Sun Selector I.R. films prevent heat radiation loss from the Greenhouse to the atmosphere, maintain higher foliage temperatures and drier plants, reduce the incidence of frost damage and lead to saving in heating costs.
Polykeder™ Dome Covering
Dome greenhouse coverings second option is PolyKeder™. It is a term used to describe an air bubble greenhouse film specially designed for long term, outdoor exposure to the elements and designed specifically for plant production. PolyKeder™ can extend the growing season in the coldest and harshest of climates to allow year-round production at a fraction of the cost of current traditional greenhouse methods. Tested for over 40 years Swiss Alps and Central Canada, with it’s special bubble design and UV protection, offers growers advantages that no other product on the market can provide. It is the first product on the market to offer insulation as well as light diffusion and UV protection, all in one. Efficiently replacing glass and other rigid plastics as well as thin, weather susceptible plastic sheeting while retaining 60-95% of greenhouse heat. PolyKeder™ is waterproof, airtight, strong, lightweight and flexible. And best of all, with careful installation, one layer of PolyKeder™ can last over 25 years!
